More of Mr. Butch

Posted By Ardellis on July 15, 2007

Folks over at the Noise have been talking about Mr. Butch since his passing was just a rumor on Thursday morning. There are some lovely stories in this thread. I especially love the tales of Butch giving money to other people when he thought they needed more than he did. He was such a sweetheart.

Also, there are a couple of video clips of the man himself on The Mr. Butch Show.

There’s a memorial tomorrow night.

  1. I think the memorial has been postponed, although I’ve only seen this some places and I get the impression there’s a lot of confusion. From the Myspace page someone set up for him:

So, the memorial service has been postponed. It was going to be monday night, but Mr. Butch’s ashes won’t be ready in time, and his family cannot make it down on monday, so the whole thing has to be moved. It will be held sometime between July 21st and July 27th. There will be a really short ceremony, followed by a parade through Allston, where we will scatter his ashes. We will also be most likely having a benefit show for Mr. Butch. His family has very little money to pay for his final expenses, so the show will hopefully cover that and then some.
Contact us if you have any questions or if any bands want to play.
    thanks,
    Regen staff.

I actually really, really want to come up for this but can neither get the time off nor afford the airfair. :(

  2. Thanks for the info, Barb. Andy and I were planning to attend and I hadn’t heard about the postponement. I’m not surprised about the confusion, though, since it’s all a grassroots word-of-mouth sort of affair. Just as it should be.

I wish you could be there, too. :(

Honestly, if even five percent of all the people that have fond memories of Butch were to show up, this would be bigger than the ‘04 Democratic Convention.

    His passing even made Fark.
